Agora (ISSN 2242-2528) is the online magazine of Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. The magazine (ISSN 1456-114X) is also published in print once a year, only in Finnish.

We also publish blog posts about the work at SAMK and the people who do it, topics from studies to research and the politics of higher education – with a personal touch.

When Jichen Lu watched Frozen 2, she never imagined it would inspire her to choose Finland. What began as a fascination with snowflakes, Santa Claus and the Northern Lights soon became a life-changing decision, leading her to SAMK, a degree in International Tourism Management and a career in marketing.

Application period begins on Monday – SAMK offers a wide range of degree programmes in Finnish and English

The application period for universities of applied sciences will take place from 1 to 11 September 2025. At SAMK, applicants can choose from a diverse selection of degree programmes in both Finnish and English. Studies will begin at the start of 2026.

A smoother pathway to Finnish working life for international registered nurses

A new kind of collaboration will strengthen expertise in Finnish healthcare. Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) is involved in projects to develop new operating models for individuals who have completed a nursing degree outside the EU or EEA countries.

I also act as an executive representative for the High technology foundation of Satakunta.
