RoboAI Research Center at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) will open its laboratory doors to everyone interested on Thursday, 12 November 2026. Taking place for the first time, RoboAI Open offers an opportunity to explore technologies, research and future solutions at SAMK’s Pori Campus.
The free event begins at 12:00 with a session aimed at companies, organisations and SAMK staff. The programme includes presentations on the Research Center’s activities and collaboration opportunities, as well as guided laboratory tours. From 16:00 to 19:00, the doors will be open to everyone.

The idea arose from a practical need
– The idea for RoboAI Open probably came about after a couple of glasses of wine with my colleague Sari Merilampi, laughs Mirka Leino, Principal Researcher in Automation and Robotics.
RoboAI regularly receives requests from people interested in visiting its facilities and learning more about the RoboAI laboratory. In recent years, RoboAI has taken its technology expertise out into the region through RoboAI Roadshow events. In 2024, the roadshow visited Kankaanpää, followed by Eura in 2025. Now, the Research Center is inviting interested visitors to explore its activities at its own facilities.
– We wanted to organise an event where everyone would have the opportunity to come and see what happens in our laboratories, Leino explains.

Technology made accessible to everyone
You do not need to be a technology expert to attend RoboAI Open. The event brings research and new technologies closer to the public, offering opportunities to see and experience them in practice.
Visitors will be able to explore a range of different environments. The RoboAI laboratory will showcase technologies including machine vision, artificial intelligence, wellbeing technology, robotics and 3D printing. Cybersecurity and space technology will be featured at RoboAI Cyberlab. The Peliselli Serious Games and Experience Laboratory and Kokeilimo, a home-like simulation environment, offer insights into experience production, multisensory technology, serious games and smart living.
There will be something interesting to see and experience for everyone.
