Rector of the University of Turku Marjo Kaartinen and Managing Director and President of the Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) Jari Multisilta have signed a partnership agreement between the higher education institutions.

With the collaboration, the University of Turku specifically aims to establish new activities that promote the vitality of the Satakunta region together with SAMK.

– The University of Turku has versatile and long-term operations in Satakunta, and collaboration with the regional actors has tightened in the past few years. A great example of this is the Pori Space Lab that started its operations previously this year. The partnership with the Satakunta University of Applied Sciences further consolidates our already great collaboration, says Rector Marjo Kaartinen.

The University of Turku coordinates the University Consortium of Pori, where the University’s Turku School of Economics and the Faculties of Humanities and Science have research and education activities. Furthermore, the Faculties of Medicine and Social Sciences also have activities in the region.

Pori Space Lab is a joint collaboration platform in space technology for the City of Pori, University of Turku and Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. The goal of the collaboration is a small satellite programme that combines research and education as well as cooperation with business life and international networks.

– It is great that with this agreement we can strengthen collaboration with the University of Turku. I believe that we can together promote the vitality of Satakunta and create new competence for the region, says Managing Director and President of SAMK Jari Multisilta.
