International accreditation for Physiotherapy education at SAMK

The Degree Programme in Physiotherapy at SAMK has been re-accredited by World Physiotherapy (WP).

The World Physiotherapy full accreditation mark.

Accreditation is an international quality evaluation in which education is assessed according to the global framework for physiotherapy education. During the process, the content, implementation and learning environment of SAMK’s physiotherapy education were comprehensively reviewed based on a self-evaluation report prepared by the physiotherapy lecturers and an evaluation report produced following a site visit by the accreditation committee.

SAMK is the first higher education institution in Scandinavia and the third in Europe to successfully complete this accreditation process.

The accreditation report highlights several strengths of the programme. The education follows the international standards and competency requirements defined by World Physiotherapy. Language support has been integrated into clinical placements for students whose Finnish language skills are still developing. The programme is based on a clear and well-developed pedagogical framework, and it benefits from a broad network of clinical placements and partners across Finland.

This recognition confirms the high quality of our education and provides a valuable framework for the continuous development and quality management of the programme in the future, says Mari Törne, Senior Lecturer and Degree Programme Coordinator in Physiotherapy.
