JCI Finland organized the Employer of the Year competition in collaboration with its partners, Business Finland’s Work in Finland unit, and XAMK, South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences.
SAMK was selected as the winner in the public organizations category.
– We want to showcase success stories of employers and encourage more organizations to recruit foreigners, who are crucial for Finland’s future economic growth, says the competition project manager Iiro Ignatius.
Internationalization is part of the strategy at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences
Serving over 6,700 students, the multidisciplinary Satakunta University of Applied Sciences aims to ensure the employment of its students and collaborates extensively with over 500 global companies and organizations. SAMK, the winner in the public organizations category, is recognized for its excellent consideration of the perspectives of foreign staff in both personnel policy and other activities of the university.
The competition jury was impressed by factors such as SAMK’s transparent internationalization strategy and the number of foreign students and employees. SAMK also supports the networking of foreign staff beyond the university in professional communities and industry networks and events.

The International Employer of the Year competition
The International Employer of the Year competition is searching for organizations in Finland that have successfully recruited, onboarded, and retained immigrants and international talents. With the competition, JCI Finland wants to showcase employer success stories and encourage more organizations to recruit foreigners who play a key role in Finland’s future economic growth.

SAMK is participating in SuomiAreena
SAMK will participate in SuomiAreena, held from June 24–27, 2025. SAMK will have a tent at Kansalaistori, featuring daily changing themes. In addition, SAMK will co-host a discussion titled "Finland thrives on the West Coast" (in Finnish).
