Excellent lessons from the perspective of developing managerial work and team management

Johanna Lainio, who is the head of the Maritime Logistics Research Center, was excited about having the opportunity to participate in the event.

– It is a great opportunity that both SAMKS’s staff and students can participate in such a high-quality event during a working day on their own campus, said Lainio.

Lainio also took note of the great keynote line up at the event and expressed that she herself learned something new about leadership and employee dynamics from Kim Scott who’s keynote took place on the second day in the afternoon.

This year, the Nordic Business Forum also offered excellent lessons from the perspective of developing managerial work and team management. Working life guru Kim Scott’s talk on candor was definitely one of the best keynotes. Scott offered a clear model for handling challenging situations within leadership and employee relationships, which is known to be one of the most challenging areas of management.

In addition to the notable keynote lineup from the stage in Helsinki, each day of the NBF Studio Rauma was kicked off with an opening statement live at the event. On the first day at Merimäki Elviira Tuomi, Logistics degree programme coordinator and teacher at SAMK gave an inspiring opening statement and on the second day at Rauma-Sali, International Business student Chathura De Silva gave his opening statement, De Silva Shared his thoughts on the importance of NBF Studio Rauma.

– The NBF Studio Rauma event offers an invaluable platform for students to gain insights into the practical dimensions of professional life, while also emphasizing the critical human skills necessary for career success. With a distinguished lineup of influential speakers, the event inspires attendees to strive for excellence.

De Silva also expanded on his experience on speaking in front of an audience for the first time, and how it will help him with his future career goals.

– Participating as a speaker at NBF provided me with the opportunity to refine my public speaking and communication abilities, while also allowing me to share my personal experiences with fellow students. In my view, NBF is an essential seminar for students looking to develop a well-rounded professional skill set.

The NBF Studio Rauma Live Streaming event will take place again in 2025 in September.
