SAMK wants to develop the safety of its entire community and to raise awareness of the importance of safety.

The purpose of the evacuation exercise was to ensure that everyone on campus is aware of the correct procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. The exercise also gives participants the opportunity to improve overall campus safety and preparedness.

Neither staff nor students were informed of the exercise in advance, in order to make the situation as authentic as possible.

The exercise included exit announcements and a smoke machine was used to release smoke into the lower lobby of the campus.
