Jari Iisakkala leads the Faculty of Service Business
Jari Iisakkala started as the Dean of the Faculty of Service Business at the beginning of April. Iisakkala feels enthusiastic about his new position and is pleased with the growing appreciation of SAMK, which has taken place in the region in recent years.

SAMK has launched the first slogan in its history. The slogan is strongly based on the strategy renewed last year.
Language showering and co-simulation – Finnish language and cultural knowledge for international students
SAMK is developing the Finnish language support e.g. for the students in the English Nursing and Physiotherapy degree programmes. Senior Lecturers Marja Tomberg and Maarit Harjanne are enthusiastic about the results.
Students dive into the world of responsible locally produced food during an international intensive week
SAMK is once again organising an international intensive week, Business Week, in early October. This year, the event will be organised in collaboration with Satakunnan Osuuskauppa (Satakunta Cooperative Society). The theme is locally produced food and food responsibility.

Bachelor´s thesis: University students’ experiences on dating violence
In September 2022 a social science thesis investigating university students’ experiences on dating violence was completed. The purpose of the research was to gather information on the subject and to improve accessibility.
New experiences in store for exchange students
Sanni Jaakkola, 21, who studies in the degree programme of International Business for the third year, spent autumn 2019 in the capital of Spain, Madrid, at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. Besides studying, Sanni also had time to travel when doing student exchange.
