The nationwide Career Monitoring Survey for universities of applied sciences has started. The survey collects information on graduates’ employment, career development, the skills needed in working life, and how well studies at universities of applied sciences have met the needs of working life.
The Career Monitoring Survey provides universities of applied sciences with unique information on the impact and labour market relevance of education. The results are used to develop education, student guidance and quality management, as well as to strengthen cooperation with working life. They also provide valuable information to support the development of education policy.
Working life is changing rapidly. Artificial intelligence, digitalisation, sustainability requirements and new ways of working are constantly reshaping competence needs. Five years after graduation, alumni are well placed to assess how their studies have supported their careers, what skills are genuinely needed in working life and what capabilities will be expected of future professionals.
The Career Monitoring Survey has established its position as one of the most important tools for assessing the impact of education at universities of applied sciences. Previous survey rounds have produced extensive data on graduates’ career paths, competence development and changes in working life. The results help to develop education so that it responds even better to the needs of students, working life and society. Every response strengthens the understanding of the role of universities of applied sciences in working life and helps to build even more impactful higher education for the future.
The Career Monitoring Survey will be sent by email and text message to everyone who graduated with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a Finnish university of applied sciences in 2021. The survey is conducted jointly by the universities of applied sciences and CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd.
Results from previous Career Monitoring Surveys are available in Vipunen, the Education Administration’s reporting portal (in Finnish).
