Description

What does your studies involve?

The recent global crises have challenged the national and international supply chains. The need for logistics professionals with excellent multidisciplinary skills in innovation, adaptability and logistics knowledge is greater than ever. Supply chain data and resilience management will be the core business in the near future and our international logistics engineering degree programme is designed to answer to these needs.

SAMK's logistics engineering programme consists of basic engineering skills and knowledge of material, money and information flows along the supply chain management. The main focus is on sales and operations planning (S&OP), smart data analytics, transportation and maritime logistics. You can read more about the studies in the programme in the curriculum.

The students graduating from Satakunta University of Applied Sciences logistics degree programme will have the most versatile expertise in logistics to cover as well physical movements as data transfer.

Specialisations

What are your options for specialisation?

The logistics programme offers a holistic overview of both national and international supply chains, including the material, financial, and information flows. All logistics students are advised to include the maritime logistics module as a valuable component of their academic journey. Importantly, students have the flexibility to concentrate on their specific areas of interest when considering the supplementary professional studies. Furthermore, practical training and thesis work play a crucial role in establishing a robust foundation for expertise in chosen subjects. These components provide a hands-on approach for students to dive into topics they wish to focus on. The programme is structured to not only accommodate but actively support individual goals, fostering a deep understanding of supply chain management and aiding students in the development of their expertise in the field.

Career opportunities

Where can you work after graduation?

Logistics is a very diverse field of education. Logistics engineers are employed in a number of different fields from different industries to public sector positions. There is a need for logistics experts. After graduation, some students will be employed directly in supervisory positions. Often, the tasks are planning or development tasks as well as expert tasks related to various functions, which then lead to managerial tasks or more demanding expert tasks.

Potential job titles include: logistics manager, logistics planner, transportation and warehousing manager, purchasing manager, purchaser, terminal manager, materials manager, material planner and transportation planner.

COLUMN: Internationality belongs to everyday life – there's no need for contemplation

On a Wednesday in March at SAMK Rauma Campus, 2nd floor of Satamakatu: 60 students in a classroom solving a game connected to production, distribution and purchasing. Half of the students are from our French partner university Vesoul and the other half are SAMK students; there are both Logistics students from the field of Engineering and International Business students from the field of Business Administration.
