Maritime Logistics Research Center operates within themes maritime, logistics, and security of supply.
On a Wednesday in March at SAMK Rauma Campus, 2nd floor of Satamakatu: 60 students in a classroom solving a game connected to production, distribution and purchasing. Half of the students are from our French partner university Vesoul and the other half are SAMK students; there are both Logistics students from the field of Engineering and International Business students from the field of Business Administration.
Logistics is everywhere and belongs to everyone´s daily life in one way or the other. The field is not very well known, even though it deals with matters that affect for example how milk is delivered fresh to the consumer, the frozen products icy to the supermarket freezer and fresh fruit to our dinner table.
The group of an engineer student at SAMK, Vaklin Angelov, came second at a competition by SeaFocus, where the students look for solutions for real problems of real companies. The international team searched for a solution for the Arctech case at Helsinki dock: “Improved Information and Material Handling in Shipbuilding Through IoT”.
In the autumn 2017 Bulgarian Vaklin Angelov started studying at SAMK in the English language Industrial Management engineering program. – The studies have met with my expectations. Various contact and feedback systems work well, which is important, because the studying is mainly online using different electronic systems.
We offer Logistics engineering studies via distance learning which gives you an opportunity to study flexibly in your own time.
