New EBSCOhost databases with 7000 full-text journals for SAMK students and staff: Academic Search Premier and Business Source Premier

EBSCOhost is a suite of databases, mostly full text, with an emphasis on peer-reviewed journals. SAMK Library has subscribed to the major databases Academic Search Premier and Business Source Premier in addition to the library’s previous collection of EBSCOhost databases. Other EBSCOhost databases include Academic Search Elite, Business Source Elite, ERIC, Hospitality & Tourism Complete, CINAHL Complete, and GreenFILE.

New: Academic Search Premier

Designed specifically for academic institutions, Academic Search Premier is a multi-disciplinary full text database containing full text for more than 4 600 journals, including nearly 3 900 peer-reviewed titles. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 8 500 journals. This scholarly collection offers information in nearly every area of academic study including computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and many more. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1 000 titles. The majority of full text titles are available in native (searchable) PDF, or scanned-in-color.

New: Business Source Premier

Business Source Premier is the industry’s most used business research database, providing full text for more than 2 300 journals, including full text for more than 1 100 peer-reviewed business publications. This database provides full text back to 1886, and searchable cited references back to 1998. All disciplines of business are covered, including marketing, management, accounting, finance and economics. The database also includes other sources of full text information such as country economic reports from the EIU, Global Insight, ICON Group and CountryWatch and detailed company profiles for the world’s 10 000 largest companies. Additional full text, non-journal content includes market research reports, industry reports, country reports, company profiles and SWOT analyses. Business Source Premier contains PDF images for the great majority of journals; many of these PDF’s are native (searchable) or scanned-in-color. This database is updated daily on EBSCOhost.

Academic Search Elite

Academic Search Elite provides full text for more than 2 100 journals, including more than 1 700 peer-reviewed titles. In addition to the full text, indexing and abstracts are provided for over 3 650 journals. This database offers information in nearly every area of academic study including: computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies and more. In addition to journal coverage, Academic Search Elite provides full text information from a variety of source-types such as scholarly monographs. The majority of full text titles are available in native (searchable) PDF, or scanned-in-color. Full text information in this database dates as far back as 1985.

Business Source Elite

Business Source Elite provides full text coverage for over 1 000 business publications and economics journals, including nearly 500 peer-reviewed publications. Business Source Elite contains full text from the world’s top management and marketing journals. This database includes full text (PDF) coverage dating back as far as 1985. More than 10 100 substantial company profiles from Datamonitor are also included. This database is updated daily on EBSCOhost.

CINAHL Complete

CINAHL Complete is the world’s most comprehensive nursing & allied health research database, providing full text for nearly 1 400 journals indexed in CINAHL. Of those, 953 are not found with full text in any version of Academic Search, Health Source or Nursing & Allied Health Collection. This authoritative file contains full text for many of the most used journals in the CINAHL index, with no embargo. With full-text coverage dating back to 1937, CINAHL Complete is the definitive research tool for all areas of nursing and allied health literature. CINAHL Complete also provides indexing for more than 5 400 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health. The database contains more than 4 million records dating back to 1937. Offering complete coverage of English-language nursing journals and publications from the National League for Nursing and the American Nurses’ Association, CINAHL Complete covers nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines. In addition, this database offers access to health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals and book chapters. Searchable cited references for nearly 1500 journals are also included.

Hospitality & Tourism Complete

Hospitality & Tourism Complete covers scholarly research and industry news relating to all areas of hospitality and tourism. This collection contains more than 828 000 records, with coverage dating as far back as 1965. There is full text for more than 480 publications, including periodicals, company & country reports, and books. Sources are both domestic and international in range and scope, with material collected from countries and regions such as Canada, Australia, Europe and Asia. Subject areas covered include the culinary arts, demographics & statistics, development & investment, food & beverage management, hospitality law, hotel management & administrative practices, leisure & business travel, market trends, technology and more.

ERIC

ERIC, the Education Resource Information Center sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education, is an online resource to education literature and research. The database provides access to information from journals included in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index. Content includes journal articles, research reports, curriculum and teaching guides, conference papers, dissertations and theses, and books dating back to 1966. When provided by ERIC, there are links to the ERIC full text or links to other sources such as publisher websites or DOIs.

GreenFILE

GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on the environmental effects of individuals, corporations and local/national governments, and what can be done at each level to minimize these effects. Multidisciplinary by nature, GreenFILE draws on the connections between the environment and a variety of disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology. Topics covered include global climate change, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 880 000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 13 000 records.
