Two languages, one group: reforming mechanical engineering studies
In the future, students of the two degree programmes in Mechanical Engineering, both the one with Finnish and the one with English as the language of tuition, will study together. The common language for the degree programmes will predominantly be English.
SAMK aspiring to become carbon neutral
SAMK is part of Arene Program for sustainable development and responsibility. The program creates a framework for a more sustainable and responsible future for all Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland. SAMK wants to be carbon neutral by the year 2030.

SAMK will participate in SuomiAreena, held from June 24–27, 2025. SAMK will have a tent at Kansalaistori, featuring daily changing themes. In addition, SAMK will co-host a discussion titled "Finland thrives on the West Coast" (in Finnish).
Students selected teacher of the year – other employees also awarded in personnel event
“Guides the lost souls, encourages the hopeless, further develops ideas and changes dreams into plans, as a person to person. That´s our Petri.” This is the way students described senior lecturer Petri Martikkala, who was chosen as the teacher of the year. Other distinguished employees were also awarded at SAMK personnel event in January 2021.
Updating teacher's competence with a period in working life
During a work-life period, the teacher works for an agreed period of time in an organization in the field they normally teach. The idea is not to have something special arranged for the teacher during the period spent on the field, but that they are involved in the daily life and activities of the organization.
