Strengthening Industrial Cybersecurity and Digital Resilience

Our cybersecurity research strengthens the digital resilience of industry and organisations. We develop practical solutions to protect IT and OT networks, manage risks, and anticipate cyber threats. We also use realistic training and simulation environments to test these solutions. To support this work, we have developed a cybersecurity self-assessment tool for companies, helping organisations evaluate and improve their cybersecurity. We work closely with businesses and public authorities and support organisations in complying with legislation and standards.

RoboAI Cyber research entity

At SAMK, we have gathered our research, development, and innovation activities into research centers. Cybersecurity, industrial networks, and risk management form one of our key research areas. Our cybersecurity research is centered at SAMK’s RoboAI Research Centre. We refer to this research entity as RoboAI Cyber.

The themes we are working on:

Cybersecurity of industrial IT and OT networks: segmentation, monitoring, vulnerability identification, and protection of critical infrastructure.
Cyber exercises and simulation environments: attack simulations, testing, and validation of solutions in realistic environments.
Vulnerability and risk management: identification, prioritisation, and planning of risk mitigation measures.
Security of cloud and AI solutions: cybersecurity of cloud and AI systems and their secure integration into industrial environments.
Regulatory and standards readiness: supporting organisations in meeting regulatory requirements (e.g. NIS2, CRA) and in developing and documenting cybersecurity practices.

Projects

We promote cybersecurity and digital resilience through research and development projects carried out in close collaboration with businesses. We strengthen organisations capabilities by raising awareness of cyber threats, supporting current-state assessments, and developing practical solutions and operating models. We also help organisations identify risks, meet compliance requirements, and improve their cybersecurity.
