SAMK to Coordinate EU-Funded Innovation Project GreenTech4Transformation (GT4T)

SAMK has received funding from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology Higher Education Initiative (EIT HEI) for the GreenTech4Transformation (GT4T) project.

This marks the first time SAMK serves as the lead institution in a project funded by this initiative, and also the first time it coordinates a joint project within the Seal of Excellence European University Alliance.

The project aims to strengthen the role of higher education institutions in advancing Europe’s green and digital transitions. Through the establishment of venture science centers, the development of micro-credential-based training, and the creation of a digital capacity-building network, GT4T will foster interdisciplinary collaboration and entrepreneurship across Europe.

The project is coordinated by SAMK’s Resource Wisdom Research Center and Intelligent Industry Unit, with Ali Tavakoli serving as the Lead and the Project Manager. The initiative supports both early-career professionals (ages 17–25) and experienced professionals (ages 55+), with a focus on inclusive, intergenerational learning.

The GT4T consortium includes:

  • Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences – Germany
  • Windesheim University of Applied Sciences (in collaboration with ZWINC) – Netherlands
  • Beykent University – Türkiye
  • Griffith College Dublin – Ireland
  • Furthr – Ireland
  • Ikigaia Ltd – Finland
  • WildCampus – Germany

GT4T is aligned with the objectives of EIT Climate-KIC, addressing topics such as the circular economy, digital transformation, and the energy transition. Over the course of the project, the consortium aims to reach more than 3,000 learners, support over 45 new startup initiatives, and build a network of more than 60 institutional and industry partnerships.
