EXAM – Examination system instructions

The Exam -examination room is a supervised space in use at SAMK, where the student takes the exam on a computer, after the teacher has opened the exam in the Examination system. This guide provides general information about using Exam. In the instructions you will find, for example Exam opening hours and the rules of the examination room. Read these instructions well before the exam.

EXAM is an examination system which is based on EXAM-system and examination rooms.

  • Exam can be taken during exam period in EXAM system. Exam period is defined by teacher.
  • Examination room is a room, where exam is taken. We have examination rooms in SAMK, and you also can take exams in some other universities examination rooms.
  • Exam can be completed only in the examination room with the computers for exams (not your own computer).
  • You cannot take food, drinks, bags, books, exercise books, files, or any other material into the examination room. Mobile phones and electrical equipment are also forbidden including smart watches. Those must be left to the lockers near examination rooms
  • There is video camera and voice surveillance in the examination rooms.
  • You must be quiet in the examination room and not to disturb other examiners.

Rauma (2nd floor, room KA242) Mon – Fri 8.00 – 21.00 & Sat 8.00 – 18.00

Pori (1st floor, room B110 & B103) Mon – Fri 8.00 – 21.00 & Sat – Sun 8.00 – 18.00

Kankaanpää (2nd floor) Mon – Fri 8.00 – 21.00 & Sat 8.00 – 18.00

Huittinen (1st floor, room 142) Mon – Fri 8.00 – 21.00 & Sat 8.00 – 18.00

Please notice! Students must have their id-card (including photo) with them in the electronic examination room. Id-card must be placed near keyboard, photo upside. Identity of the student can be checked during electronic examination. All other materials and electric devices must be left to the lockers near Examination room.

General information

  • You can only participate in the exam from a computer in the examination room. You can’t do the exam from home. When you are on a computer in the examination room, you can only do the exam. You can’t do anything else on the computer.
  • The computers in the examination room are always open. The student does not use their student credentials to log in. Student credentials are only used when logging into the EXAM system on the browser.
  • You can log in to the system earliest five minutes before the scheduled exam time. The exams begin hourly.

Rules of the examination room

You can not take food, drinks, bags, notes etc. to the examination room. Taking cell phones, smart watches and other peripherals is also forbidden. For outdoor garments and forbidden items there are lockers outside the examination room that can be loaned for the duration of the exam.

  • The only object students are allowed to take with, is their identity card or passport that is placed on the desk facing the roof, next to the exam computer.
  • The examination room is equipped with a surveillance system. The recordings are used to identify the examinee and investigate possible foul play. The network in the examination room operates in a separate grid where there is no general access to the internet.
  • In the case of foul play the policy of SAMK is enacted for the proceedings.
  • You must always remain silent while in the examination room. All kinds of social activities are forbidden. Enter and leave the room as quietly as possible.
  • You can’t leave the examination room during an exam. Leaving the examination room during an exam is considered a forfeit.
  • If your exam is interrupted abruptly by a third-party event (power cut, fire alarm or other) contact your course teacher. You can find their contact information through the staff search on the SAMK website. Also contact eSAMK support by mail (esamk.support@samk.fi) and tell what happened.
  • If you don’t want to perform your exam either move or cancel it. In some exams a limited number of attempts might be available. By cancelling the exam, you won’t lose one of your exam attempts.
