Studies in Mechatronics
What do you find intriguing? Is it the evolving world of technology and the endless possibilities to create a better future? The Mechatronics specialization in engineering provides you with in-depth knowledge of structures for devices, equipment and systems, which are essential part of our modern lives. Mechatronics engineering is a multidisciplinary branch focusing traditionally on the engineering of both electrical and mechanical systems. The focus in our degree programme is on machine automation. The modern concept of mechatronics includes a combination of automation, robotics, smart operating devices, and hardware-oriented programming as well as controlling systems and mechanical engineering in order to produce design solutions unifying the subfields and to create smart systems.
Join us at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) to shape your future! And why with us? Because at SAMK you will learn with us to combine theory with practice. You will gain knowledge and understanding of how to solve problems in complex industrial environments. In four years of studies, you will not only know what automation, robotics, construction design or mechanical engineering are, but you will also know how to solve the problems of the future and improve the industry and business with your knowledge and skills.
In our laboratories you have a chance to experiment, as we believe that in order to learn you need to be able to see, to feel, to make mistakes and to find solutions. You need to plan and execute projects, you need to be able to sell your ideas and you need to be able to work in a multidisciplinary team of experts. The acquisition, sharing and collaborative collection of knowledge is one of the key factors for success.
During the four years of full-time studies, the programme will guide your way to pursuit your career in an exciting and versatile field of technology. Are you ready to meet the challenge and take actions for your future in mechatronics? Are you ready to join us? Then pack your bags with interest, high motivation to get to the bottom of things, determination, and openness to cooperate!

Your studies contain
The degree programme contains the elements of engineering in a blended way. You will be mentored and guided in a way to allow you to combine the understanding of basic studies (e.g. applied mathematics, natural sciences, communication and project management) and professional studies (e.g. automation, robotics, construction design, mechanical engineering) to understand entities and manage projects in an efficient and economical way. You will complete your degree with elective studies, practical training and Bachelor’s thesis.
Studies are carried out in English in a multicultural group of students in close cooperation with working life.
- Areas of mechatronics from fundamentals to deeper knowledge and understanding
- To take responsibility for your own learning path to support your future career
- Communication, problem solving and experimenting to find solutions
