What does your studies involve?
The English Degree Programme in Physiotherapy qualifies you for working with the functional ability of people of all age groups within the field of rehabilitation. SAMK is the only Nordic university of Applied Sciences, which offers a Bachelor-level degree in Physiotherapy in English. Physiotherapy Education at SAMK has been awarded full accreditation by World Physiotherapy.

What are your options for specialisation?
You may work within the field of rehabilitation both in the private and public sector. Your core knowledge is in the field of assessment and support of movement and function. You can work with people of all ages in hospitals, health care centres, private practices, industry, sport clubs, clinics, and non-governmental organizations.

Where can you work after graduation?
The degree programme provides a holistic overview of physiotherapy. However, the student can have the focus on their interest in the Bachelor thesis process. The physiotherapy curriculum includes 5 credits complementary studies and 7 credits free elective studies, which the student can complete according to their interest.

Senior Lecturer Maija Kangasperko teaches international physiotherapy students at SAMK together with her team. Her work includes teaching professional subjects and thesis supervision. Kangasperko has extensive international networks, and according to her, they are the university’s most important resource.
Students will be employed: Drew Warwick-Smith was recruited as a part-time lecturer at SAMK right after graduating
Drew Warwick-Smith first got interested in physiotherapy while working for the Royal Australian Navy. Now he is a part-time lecturer at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences.
