E-mail services

The rules of handling e-mails

Satakunta University of Applied Sciences uses Microsoft’s e-mail software, Outlook Web Access, which is used in a web browser. It is the sender’s responsibility to make sure that the e-mails get across.

Definitions and purposes of use

An e-mail account is created for all students. The address is in the following form: . Satakunta University of Applied Sciences’ staff uses always the student’s address when sending mail concerning studying and other information.

The fulfillment of the mailbox

When the mailbox is full, it is no longer possible to receive mail. If e-mails are sent to a full mailbox, the sender of the message will get an error notification. The receiver, however, will not get any information of the message. This is why everyone has to take care of emptying of their mailboxes. The maximum capacity of the mailbox is 700 MB. The maximum size of messages sent inside Satakunta University of Applied Sciences is 100MB. The maximum size of messages sent outside Satakunta University of Applied Sciences is 25MB.

If the student’s last name changes

If the students last name changes, the new last name will be changed to the e-mail address as well as to sender’s information. The username will remain the same. When your last name changes, inform your faculty’s student administration office.

The expiry of study entitlement

The e-mail account will be valid for 30 days after the expiry of study entitlement.

E-mails and mailboxes that harm or jeopardize the e-mail system

The administration has the right to interfere in the use of e-mail, if the messages are too large or when the mailboxes jeopardize the e-mail system’s standard of service.

Automatic mailing lists

Students are on their faculty’s incoming and administrative mailing lists. They also are on the mailing lists of the courses they have enrolled in.

Student union SAMMAKKO’s bulletin

Student union SAMMAKKO sends a weekly bulletin, usually on Fridays, to all students by e-mail.
