The thesis competitions Osaaja and Thesis

’OSAAJA’ AT SAMK

The best Bachelor's and Master's theses at SAMK are awarded annually in 'Osaaja' competition. The awarding aims to  encourage the students to do and write an excellent thesis, and to improve the valuation of the thesis done at a university of applied sciences among the area's working life.

The thesis to be awarded has to be graded as 4 or 5 (good - excellent), contentually correct and well-written.

There is three lines in the competition: 

• Business and Culture, chair of the jury Jaana Vase
• Social Services and Health Care, chair of the jury Raija Taavela
• Technology and Maritime Management, chair of the jury Ilkka Kulmala

The thesis is send to the competion, to the chair, by the thesis supervisor or the thesis assessment group. The competition is open to students whose theses is completed during previous December - November (i.e. the thesis to be awarded in Osaaja 2010 competition were completed 1.12.2008 - 30.11.2009).

The SAMK's jury chooses two thesis to be awarded in every line.  SAMK may also use the opportunity to award honourable mentions and special prizes. All the participants will be given a certificate of honour. The award ceremony is in the spring season.
