Agreements and permits

A written agreement shall be concluded if the thesis is commissioned by an enterprise or a corporation (including SAMK): agreement on the preparation of a thesis OP07. Responsibilities related to the writing and supervision of a thesis are also described in the procedural instructions, ME71110. An outline for the thesis passport is attached to these instructions; the outline shall be reworked to meet the needs of each faculty or degree programme.

If your study is related to SAMK’s operations, you need to apply for a research permit using the form OP21.

COPYRIGHTS AND PATENTS

The student has a copyright for his or her work. A separate agreement has to be made for the publication or further submission of the thesis. Moreover, permits are required for images, music etc. used in the thesis.

ETHICAL ISSUES

The student can apply good scientific practice as a basic rule in his or her thesis even if he or she is not doing scientific research. This rule can be summed up as follows: be honest and diligent, avoid carelessness and fraudulence.

Data management of research data; e.g. confidentiality requirements applicable to the identity of the persons under analysis.
