Continuing Education Centre

In the Continuing Education Centre students can deepen their professional knowledge, take shorter study modules and specialise in certain professional areas. The Centre also offers open studies.

PROFESSIONAL SPECIALISATION STUDIES

The Professional Specialisation studies are professional post degree programmes aimed at people who have Bachelor’s degree or other applicable higher education degree. Specialisation studies offer education for the needs of working life as well as for the students’ own development needs. The scope of the specialisation studies is 30 – 60 credits and they last for 1 – 2 years as part-time studies.

FRIDAY SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Friday Seminars and Workshops are tailored to those who want to develop their professional skills under top expert guidance. These one-day seminars deal with current topics of various fields. In addition to new insights and ideas, Friday seminars also give an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues and to create collaboration networks.

SHORT COURSES

Short courses can range from two days to several months and are usually conducted in the evenings for the convenience of working adults. Short courses are concise and effective studies in various subjects. During short courses the students can deepen their own professional knowledge with other group members at special contact days, by making applicable exercises and by studying via the Internet.

TAILORED STUDIES

Continuing Education Centre also arranges tailor-made training courses to meet the requirements of companies or organisations. Training can be composed of anything between one-day sessions to extensive development programmes.

OPEN STUDIES

At open Studies students can follow a range of courses run by the University of Applied Sciences, whatever the age or educational background. Studies suit anyone interested in developing their professional abilities. Open studies is a flexible opportunity to study. Studies can be accomplished either in groups with degree programme students or by participating in separately organised Open courses. Studies take place during the day, in the evening, at weekends and via the Internet. Should the student later decide to start degree-based programmes, previous open studies can be taken into account.

HOW STUDIES ARE IMPLEMENTED?

At the Continuing Education Centre the education is implemented as multiform teaching, containing usually both contact teaching and distance learning. The contact teaching is most commonly arranged in the evenings and on weekends so that it is possible to study while working. The students have the opportunity to link the study exercises to their own work in which case studying and working nicely support each other.

Utilisation of the latest technology, e-learning environments and information retrieval from information networks is an essential part of studying. Some courses can be completed entirely via the Internet.
