Research and Development

Satakunta University of Applied Sciences is in charge of serving its region by pursuing research and providing development services designed to help companies and corporations in the region develop their operations and operate successfully. SAMK carries out this service task within the limits of its educational task in open, reliable and constructive cooperation with companies and corporations in the region.

Research and development refers to activities where new information, research and/or experience is utilised for the creation of new products, services, production processes or methods, or for the improvement of existing ones. Research and development activities are typically geared towards the needs of the customers.

Research and development activities are pursued on regional, national and international levels. They are based on solid basic know-how. This essentially features the anticipation of future development needs, as well as the recognition of weak signals of new trends, and responses to them. Moreover, we are required to recognise the key, top-level and spearhead areas of competence and to maintain and strengthen them in a determined manner in order to generate critical masses of competence.

• Develop welfare, health and rehabilitation sectors
• Foster enterprise activities and new business
• Promote leadership and business competences
• Boost research especially in automation, new generation networks and software, welfare and marine technology
• Generate professionally implemented student projects
