BORROWING

The availability of the material located in the library can be checked from the Tyrni online catalogue. See Tyrni online catalogue quick reference.

You can borrow materials from all campus libraries with SAMK library card. Loan period is usually 28 days. However, there are exceptions:

  • course books 7 days
  • SAMK theses 7 days
  • journals 7 days
  • reference material for overnight or a weekend

RETURNING

Borrowed items should be returned or renewed by the due date and time. Items should be returned to the same library from which they were borrowed.

There are fines for overdue items and in some cases borrowing rights may be suspended. See charges.

RENEWAL

You can usually renew an item if it has not been reserved by another customer. You can renew loans in the library, by telephone, by e-mail or online in the Tyrni database. Online renewal is recommended. See Tyrni online catalogue quick reference. If the online renewal is blocked without any obvious reason, please contact the library. In some cases the block can be caused if the customer's data has not been updated.

Overdue loans can usually be renewed but the overdue fines apply.

PLACING HOLDS

You can place a hold on an item out on loan. Place a hold in the library, by telephone, by email or online in the Tyrni database. See Tyrni online catalogue quick reference. Your request is valid for 60 days. When the item can be borrowed a notice will be sent to you by email.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

Interlibrary lending may be used when the desired book, thesis, dissertation or journal article cannot be found in the SAMK library and in the library's international databases and online resources. Copies of journal articles can be delivered, not the printed copy of a journal itself. Reference works cannot be ordered. Loan periods vary depending on the sending library. There are  charges.
