ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING IS A RISING TREND

My name is Juuso Soikkeli and I'm studying Environmental Engineering. I'm 23 years old dude from a small town called Harjavalta, near Pori. During summers you can see me cycling around the Satakunta region. I'm a living proof that you don't need to be an Einstein to make due as an engineer; physics and mathematics really aren't my strong suit, but if I have survived, so you can do it too.

In Environmental Engineering you learn a lot about the environment, dynamics behind the global weather changes, "green" energy production and technologies involving sustainable development. Because the tuition is in English there are also foreign students in your class. I chose Environmental Engineering because the environmental knowledge in industry is a rising trend and it will produce a lot of jobs in the future, especially abroad. The education has met my expectations. It is sometimes hard, but rewarding.

I chose SAMK because it was close to my hometown and it has a good reputation. SAMK has many faculties across the Satakunta region, the largest ones locating in Pori and Rauma. Both Pori and Rauma are located on the coastal area so the sea is close by. There is a lot of industry around Satakunta, so it is easy to find work.

HELPING THE ENVIRONMENT

My name is Niilo Ahonen and I’m from Central Finland. I’m second year student in SAMK´s Environmental Engineering. I chose this programme because it combines the most interesting sides into one package; Studies to help our environment and the possibility to meet and make new friends from all over the world.

Environmental Engineering is a programme that concentrates in finding more environmental friendly options and technologies for example producing our energy needed to get by in everyday routines. The studying really has met my expectations as it has vast variety of courses from the technical field all the way to the environmental.

I chose SAMK, because they said to have the best teaching in Finland. The first impression from the school was that it felt really pleasant. SAMK offers the same, or maybe even a bit more, than the other Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland in a bit smaller, easy-to-handle -package.
