SAMK won competition

Yyteri For All -project won their own category in Design For All competition. It was awarded in Spain. There were 60 project and 17 countries in the competition.

The Yyteri for All research and development project, administered by Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, took place between 2009 and 2011 in the area of Yyteri in Pori, on the west coast of Finland. The main objective was to increase accessibility and equal participation through activities for all, regardless of personal characteristics such as disability or age. Activities such as windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, golf and winter activities like hiking and sledging were organised. To meet participants’ requirements, functional devices were purchased and produced, while innovative equipment modifications like wind surfing gears for wheelchair users were also implemented. In addition, seminars, accessibility audits, education and training to promote accessibility and Design for All were organised as part of the project.
