Different way of studying
On-line studying is a pleasantly different way of studying. You need to work to achieve results but you can choose when and where to do the work as studying entirely takes place on-line. These studies are not restricted to a particular time and classroom like conventional studies based on direct contact teaching. On the other hand, on-line studying is subject to certain restrictions too: you have to study at a computer and, of course, this way of studying includes exercises that have to be completed and returned within given deadlines. A student pursuing on-line studies needs to be able to work independently and actively much more than a student attending conventional lectures.
On-line studying can also take a form other than a course based entirely on on-line learning. The most frequent form is Internet-supported instruction, where the teacher utilises the learning environment as a place in which to return the exercise or to compile material.
On-line studying can take the form of:
- completing web-based learning exercises and studying exercises completed by other students
- studying material available in the library’s databases
- studying material on the website
- on-line tests
- forum discussions
- on-line teamwork
- attending realtime conversations with a web conferencing application
SAMK library’s internet services accompany web-based learning and you can use remote login to access library databases and web materials from home computer!
A student’s comment: “Web-based learning brings a huge responsibility for one’s success but the best thing is, you can decide yourself when to study and where!”
