WHAT IS BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP?

BME is a university of applied sciences post-graduate degree for graduates with a BBA or an applicable Bachelor’s Degree. Applicants must have completed at least 40 ECTS credits of business administration studies in higher education. Applicants must also have at least three years of work experience within the field of study. The application process is open internationally.

The education will take place in a Finnish west coast town, Rauma, and it will be held completely in English. Graduates will earn the title of Master of Business Administration.

The key issues in BME are innovation and change management, new business concepts, excellent networking and cross-cultural communication skills.

Study structure (90 ECTS)

  • Advanced Professional Studies, 55 ECTS
    • Analysing Business Environments, 25 ECTS
    • Competent Individuals and Learning Organisations, 10 ECTS
    • Developing Innovative Business Strategies and Operations, 20 ECTS
  • Elective Studies, 5 ECTS
  • Master's Thesis, 30 ECTS

Curriculum

Schedule and studying arrangements

Master's studies take 2,5 years to complete as part-time multiform studies together with a normal day job, if necessary. There are about 4-5 contact sessions per academic year. Each contact session takes 2-3 days. Exercises based on working life and RDI projects characterize the learning process. E-Learning is used over 90 percent of the time. Several partner universities add to the international focus of the studies.

About the education

Business Management and Entrepreneurship (BME) serves to educate highly skilled, innovative and entrepreneurial managers and leaders, who have strong abilities to utilise emerging opportunities in international business environment.

The objectives of the education are

  • to enhance advanced skills in business management in the changing domestic and international operating environment, especially in the SME sector
  • to enhance the student's personal abilities to succeed as an innovator and developer of an SME or other working organisation
  • to improve the student's abilities to develop and manage business processes as an entrepreneur and to take an entrepreneurial approach, and
  • to promote international networking between working life and higher education

No tuition fees

Education in Finland is free. There are no tuition fees. However, there are living expenses like rent, food and other small expenses. This is estimated to be at least 500 Euros a month, i.e. 6,000 Euros a year.
