Master's Degree Programmes
TUITION IN ENGLISH:
Currently SAMK offers five master-level, second cycle degree programmes in Finnish: degree programme in Automation Technology, degree programme in Marine Technology, degree programme in Welfare Technology, degree programme in Health Promotion and degree programme in Entrepreneurship and Business Competence. Degree programme in Business Management and Entrepreneurship (BME) is taught fully in English.
The extent of studies required for a master-level degree after the bachelor's degree is 60 - 90 credits. Taking account of both degrees the master-level degree in the university of applied sciences equals to 300 - 330 credits.
Qualified applicants are required to have a three-year working period after the bachelor's degree. The master-level degree is studied on the side. The instruction is given on specially defined contact days, and eLearning is used widely.
The programmes consist of professional studies, optional studies and the master's thesis. The thesis comprises a development project for the working life. The extent of the thesis is 30 credits. It is a working-life and regionally oriented intervention, in which a concrete change is prepared and implemented to a certain point. The thesis is carried out utilizing both research and developmental approaches. A development project of several students can develop into co-operative thematic groups, so called umbrella projects, which is comprised of the individual research of the students.
