Performance art is a brand-new part of a degree programme in Fine Arts Kankaanpää at SAMK. It combines the use of visual arts (sculpture, painting, graphic arts), performance art (dramaturgy, contacting the audience, dance, physical activities) and media (network communication, graphic design, video, voice) by developing the skills of participants and, consequently, helping them to become strong and independent artists. Studies in the social and productive skills needed in artistic life form the basis for theoretical studies.
The students will graduate to become professional artists after four years of multifaceted studies. The lecturers are top Finnish professionals. Teaching methods are based on discussion and aim at supporting the student in learning professional competence with critical thinking to culture. The main language of the tuition is Finnish, but part of the lectures will he held in English.
