What is student union SAMMAKKO?

 The finnish word sammakko means “frog” in English.

SAMMAKKO is the biggest student organisation in Satakunta. It is a politically independent student union and it’s purpose is to represent the students’ opinions and contribute to students’ standings concerning both studying and freetime. SAMMAKKO represents students in Satakunta University of Applied Sciences’ working groups and commissions and is involved in almost all of the decision-making. SAMMAKKO has about 2000 individual members. SAMMAKKO organises several events all year round and arranges covers for thesis’.

SAMMAKKO participates actively in the local discussion. The students’ representative on the national level is SAMOK ry, in which SAMMAKKO is a member like many other university of applied sciences’ student unions. SAMOK ry is constantly in touch with Members of Parliament as it takes care of students’ best interests and gives statements to the Committee for Education and Culture and to the national medium.
